How To Make A Diva Heart Birthday Cake

Little girls already know that they are divas, so why not make a diva heart birthday cake that tells the world about it? This video shows you how to make and decorate a diva heart cake that is certain to be a hit.

The base of the diva decorating is the heart-shaped cake, which is created by simply using a shaped cake pan. In the example created in the video, they have then taken pink butter cream icing and covered the cake in it. This gives the cake its distinctively feminine shape and color. A pink fondant frame is then added to the outside of the heart to give it a two-toned look.

A fondant ball border is then added to the base of the cake by simply taking fondant and rolling it into balls of the same size. If the butter cream icing dries before you place your border, simply squeeze some more butter cream into the corner at the base to serve as the glue to hold the balls on.

The next step illustrated in the video is the creation of a fondant rose to serve as a decoration for the cake surface. This uses a strip of fondant about one inch wide and five inches long. The strip is then wrapped around itself, pinching the base of the strip and leaving enough room to crease the strip at certain points to give the appearance of a flower leaf.

Next, we learn about the lettering of the word “diva” on the cake. Two methods are discussed. The first uses letter cutters that can be used to cut the letters out. The second method involves taking strips of fondant and hand-crafting the letters. This allows the decorator to use flourishes in the script and put their own distinctive flair on the cake. Care should be used to make sure that all of the letters are the same size when using this method.

Finally, a leaf cutter is used to cut out leaf shapes from fondant. The shape is then placed on a wet sponge and a tool is used to stretch and add texture to the leaf prior to being placed on the cake with the fondant roses created earlier.
