Perhaps you have taken a cake decorating class and learned that you really enjoy decorating cakes. Perhaps you bake and decorate cakes for family, friends, and neighbors. But if you have not gone to culinary school, are you able to become a professional cake decorator?
The answer is, maybe.
If you desire to work in the cake decorating business, then it is best to start with relatively low expectations. You are not going to get a job at a high-end bakery. However, you may be able to get a job at your local supermarket or Wal-Mart. You can try your local bakery, but this may be more difficult to get employed at.
If you have a photo album with pictures of cakes you have decorated, then bring it. It will not hurt and can only help if the people you want to work for can see what you are capable of.
The pay may be low to begin with, but if you are good, then the longer you work at it, the higher your pay will go. As you gain experience then you can try getting employment elsewhere.
